1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Available upon request, including:
1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.
2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
3. Installation methods.
4. Product date specific to materials used in construction of locker.

B. Shop Drawings: Indicate locker plan layout for Classic Woodworking contracted installations, component profiles and elevations, schedule of finishes, and accessories.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Perform work in accordance with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards Illustrated.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Store products in a dry, ventilated area until ready for installation.
B. Protect finishes from moisture, soiling and damage during handling.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
B. During and after installation, maintain same temperature and humidity conditions in building spaces as will occur after occupancy.
C. Protect locker finish and adjacent surfaces from damage.

     

2.1 SUPPLIERS

B. Substitutions: Not permitted.
C. Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.

2.2 LOCKERS
A. Locker Frame: Interior constructed of 5/8" high density, high impact, stain and abrasion resistant, saturated, thermo fused almond colored melamine, finished on both sides. Visible edges finished with a 2 millimeter PVC edge banding to closely match locker doors. Tops, bottoms, sides, backs and shelves are precision machined.

B. Construction:
   1. Laminate: 5/8 inch high-industrial grade core with .030 inch vertical grade high pressure Class II-B fire        retardant plastic laminate. Door edges are radiused and banded with 2 mm PVC edge banding to closely        match laminate.
          a. Select laminate color and finish (name and number) from WilsonArt, Nevamar or Formica. Custom                laminates are available.
   2. Wood Veneer: 3/4 inch A-1 plain sliced veneer on MDF core, available in the door styles, wood species and         finishes listed below, with 2 mm edge banding to closely match wood veneer.
   3. Veneered Raised Panel: 3/4 inch A-1 plain sliced veneer styles, rails and panels on MDF core with 2 mm         edge banding. All stile and rail joints are doweled and glued. Standard or vertical grain direction available.
          a. Door Style:
                  1) Shaker: 3/4 inch A-1 plain sliced veneer stiles, rails and panels on MDF core with 3/16" flush veneer                        center panel.
                  2) Flat Panel: 3/4 inch A-1 plain sliced veneer stiles, rails and panels on MDF core with 3/16" flush                        veneer center panel with 1/4 inch round mould.
                  3) Raised Panel: 3/4 inch A-1 plain sliced veneer stiles, rails and panels on MDF core.
                  4) Louvered and Raised: 3/4 inch A-1 plain sliced veneer stiles, rails and panels on MDF core with 3/4                        inch fixed position 1 3/8 inch louvers.
                  5) Louvered: 3/4 inch fixed position 1 3/8 inch louvers.

C. Primary Wood Species: Pine, Maple, Birch, Red Oak, Cherry, Mahogany, Hickory, Walnut, or Custom Species. (Not applicable to plastic laminate lockers)

D. Finish: Clear, Cherry Mahogany, Dark Mahogany, Dark Mahogany Toned, White Washed, Paint Grade, or Custom Finish. All wood surfaces are finished with a catalyzed lacquer applied in two coats with hand sanding between coats, sealed with a moisture resistant top coat. (Not applicable to plastic laminate lockers)

E. Accessories: Wood Framed Mirror, Lock Box (with Keyed lock, Combination lock, Keyless security lock, Padlock hasp), Shoe Cubbies, Wood Door Tray with Towel Bar (also available without towel bar), Drawer with Knob or key lock, Crown Moulding, Valance, Flat Top Panel.

F. Hardware: Number disk, Coat Rod, Coat Hook(s), Name Plate, Door knobs, Pulls and Hinges (3 nickel finished, concealed, heavy duty European steel hinges allowing 125 degree door opening on all doors over 42" H and 2 on doors 42" or less). Standard hardware will vary depending on locker model.

G. Lock Systems: Padlock hasp or heavy-duty five-pin tumbler key lock standard on all lockers. Furnished with two (2) master keys and two (2) user keys per lock. Keyless Security Lock, Built In Combination Lock, DigiLock KP-s & KT-s, Assa Abloy Card Key Lock, Safe-O-Mat Coin Return Lock, Safe-O-Mat Coin Collect Lock, High Security Stainless Steel Padlock Hasp also available. Available finishes will vary.

H. Venting: 12 millimeter openings between door and top and bottom of locker and dividers on multiple opening frames provide continuous natural air flow.

2.3 FABRICATION
A. Locker shall be fabricated using doweled and glued assembly process.
B. Fabricate locker parts square, rigid and without warp, with the finished faces flat and free of scratches and chips.
C. Machine attachment holes accurate and free of chips. Attach fasteners as standard with manufacturer.
D. Fabricate corners and fillers as required for installation.

     

3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Do not begin installation until adjacent substrates and finishes have been properly prepared.
B. Verify prepared bases are in correct position and configuration.
C. If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION
A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
C. Verify adequacy of backing and support framing.

3.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. If Classic Woodworking is not contracted for installation, client must unload lockers from the delivery truck.
C. Place and secure on prepared base.
D. Secure lockers with anchor devices to suit substrate materials. Minimum Pullout Force: 100 lb (445 N).
E. Install end panels, filler panels, tops and bases as indicated on the approved shop drawings.
F. Install accessories.
G. Set and secure lockers in place; rigid, plumb, and level.
H. Use concealed joint fasteners to align and secure adjoining cabinet units.
I. Conceal screw heads with plastic caps to match locker interior.

3.4 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust moving or operating parts to function smoothly and correctly.

3.5 CLEANING
A. Clean locker interiors and exterior surfaces.

3.6 PROTECTION
A. Protect installed products until completion of project.
B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.

LEAD TIMES

Lead times begin from the date submittals, stain (if applicable), and Layouts (if applicable) are returned to Classic Woodworking as approved and deposit (if applicable) is paid in full.

2 Weeks plus time architect takes to approve.

Plastic Laminates & Veneer:
4-6 weeks

RP, FP and Shaker: 6-8 weeks
